THE BONDING

Like most of earth’s creatures, we are born with a built-in genetic program to bond with mother. This survival mechanism assures nourishment, protection, and nurturing, the prime essentials for life to come. As new arrivals grow and mature, they profit by absorbing the skills their species must have for surviving in their world. Through the millennia ... so it has been.

Our species, homosapien, needs bonding for a longer period than most species. The bonding is indispensable. In humans particularly, bonding is shared by an interactive family. Of all species, we go through the most lengthy instructional period to prepare us for life. Of all species, we the most innovative, exhibit the strongest desire to perpetuate family. The safety of being together, the moral support through tangible interaction of those we are comfortable with, has been flourishing ... “until now.”

Science, a word not necessarily synonymous with worthwhile, has learned through experiments natures normal bonding instincts can be altered. They have tampered with the process and mislead mother nature.

A newborn chick, can be fooled into accepting a tennis ball as its mother. What a marvelous observation? How can this be used? Is there a practical application of this knowledge?

Practical application ... now that’s a thought to ponder. Practical for who? Practical for what? Depending on who is in charge of applying the knowledge and for what purpose, science can annihilate as well as enhance life as we know it. Science can promote social advancement or enhance power’s desire to deprive us of capacity. Though not a unique observation “it is a fact.” Good guys will use knowledge one way, plotters another. Observing present
reality surrounding us ... the plotters seem to be winning.

During our formative years, among traditional family construct, character and values are molded through close and trusted human relationships. Step by step, knowledge, the result of give and take becomes the building blocks of the mind. It is not necessarily a smooth uninterrupted process. Roadblocks need to be navigated, arguments and reluctance are bound to surface. Human resolutions, through human give and take, has been the formula to
developing computability ... “until now.”

Possessing knowledge of how to fool mother nature, and the ability to make it useful on a wide spread basis, presently rests in the hands of science. In short order, the all-powerful will be consumed with its potential to strengthen their world. Announcing “Dolly” is only the visible beginning.

Bonding, an evolutionary achievement, can now be short circuited. A toddler can easily be weaned from instinctive parental attachment and redirected with a software program supported by the chip. What a horrible picture, “and so simple to do.” Still more horrible, “it’s being done.”

Though I write this book using computer and keyboard, when I need some instructive information and push the help button, the information appearing on the monitor is usually mystifying. Of fair intelligence, why am I having difficulty? Well! was I glad to read that Microsoft acknowledged the problem. They admitted their program engineers don’t have the skills to communicate with the real world. Now that really speaks volumes. If software engineers can’t even communicate with people intent on using their product, how are they programming for children in the classroom? What is being done to their susceptible minds?

Those not having been captured by the chip from childhood on, are capable of noticing information deficiency. The next generation, solely computer directed, may not be able to tell the difference.

What is the goal of this electronic revolution. What is the real truth? Will it always remain under their control, in their domain, and forever enable power to drag us kicking and screaming into their “New World Order.” Do we need their new world? Do we need their style of order?

From what little we know, we can conjecture, this new world requires a new kind of sapien. That too is in the works. It’s being done by altering children (and they know the earlier the better), to separate and phase out child from parental influence. As chip producers improve their product software programmers improve theirs. It has reached a point where programs are being marketed for children as young as two years. Pretty soon someone will come up with a program for an infant in the cradle. If that’s not an upsetting thought, I can’t imagine what is.

As soon as an infant’s finger can be trained to push a button, a chip is waiting to “interact.” What a clever word to avoid a correct description of what is happening ... “interference.” As the computer at school talks to Johnny and as mother talks to Johnny, “Johnny must be confused” ... and rightly so. Mother tries to prevent further PC interference. Can she win the battle? No way! Our government wants computers to flood the classrooms ... and they will. So goes the game.

Not even mother is aware of the headway the chip has made into family supervision. Mom buys the latest toys, and proudly watches as Johnny pushes the right buttons. “Isn’t it cute,” she remarks, as the electronic toy and Johnny interact. Carried a step further, connected with what’s to follow, it can have a sinister appearance. Early play with interactive toys is entry level training, promoting a willingness to interact with the computer “so that government can easily connect to Johnny” when he enters the classroom. The transition from mother to machine is being accomplished without her full understanding ... in fact, with her cooperation, Johnny is being hooked. He is on his way to becoming a “cyber dependent addict.”

Hypothetically -- a child asks, “PC what is ........ ?” Within the possibilities of a sterile data base an answer appears. That’s that! Obviously it is not the way a parent or qualified educator would respond. Every subtlety of communication would be brought into play. That is the most important essential disappearing from society. More and more human response to human contact has become curt, apart, empty, ... “machine like.”

Conversation is talking, feeling, gesturing, trying one’s best to communicate with every nuance available. A computer relationship consists of ... “ask me - read me.” The computer has eliminated an effective component of communication, “animation,” and they are trying to resolve it with cute little cartoon characters running around the monitor. Normal human interactive patterns are shriveling.

As Johnny grows, spending thousands of hours interacting with his “cyber companion,” his normal bonding highway has been corrupted. He is now “chip dependent” traveling a new road. An altered human has been created. They’re all around us. No need for expensive cloning. It’s been done quietly, and inexpensively ... “using the chip.”

If this sounds sort of Si-Fi-ish, with ominous overtones, open your eyes, use imagination. It’s there, you’ll see it.

Whether or not power intentionally created this new human, whether or not power recognized the possibilities and enhanced development ... is not important. Whether the chicken or the egg came first “someone recognized the possibilities,” incorporated the technology, watched and evaluated the potential ... and ran with the result.

Si-Fi has fed us many inventive futures. Corporate is feasting on the possibilities. We have become the food for the feast.
